What we do
We provide training for health and social care professionals.
This involves training health and social care professionals including health visitors, school nurses, nursery nurses, residential care staff, staff caring for vulnerable people and patients with special care needs. The team provides:
- A supervised toothbrushing programme called the ‘Brush Bus’ for local schools and nurseries working with children between 2 and 6. This gets children brushing their teeth on a daily basis in the nursery or school.
- For Early Years settings up to year 6, the team have a set of boxes which, accompanied by interactive videos, that can be loaned out free of charge.
The team also provide free bespoke oral health training sessions for:
- ISPHN teams
- Safeguarding teams
- Children centre staff
- Dental teams
- Care givers for vulnerable adults, including older people, those with learning difficulties and mental health conditions
- Support workers in addiction services, the homeless, and traveller families.
These sessions can be delivered in person or via Microsoft teams depending on their demand.
The team also support annual events including:
- No Smoking Day
- National Smile Month
- Mouth Cancer Action Month
